Lifeguard Class Practice Program

Have you always wanted to be a lifeguard but not sure if you are able to pass the pre-course swim test? Our lifeguard instructor and aquatics team will meet you where you are in your swimming ability and equip you with the necessary skills to pass the lifeguard pre-test:
- Swim 150 yards with face in the water
- Tread water for 2 minutes using legs only; swim 50 yards
- Timed brick retrieval
Participants also gain valuable insights and tips to complete the American Red Cross lifeguard course. Participants do not have to know how to swim before beginning, but must not be afraid to go underwater up to 4 feet deep. Must be 15 years old by August 1, 2024 and have a commitment to practicing at least twice per week.

The program fee is credited toward the October or December YMCA lifeguard class upon successful completion of this program. The fee also covers free visits for extra practice time.

Tuesday & Thursdays, 5-6pm and Saturdays, 11:30-12:30

Session II: November 5-23
